Walleye Philly Sandwich

  • Approximate Prep and Cook Time: 35-40 minutes
Always cook fish to an internal temperature of 145°F.
Ingredients
  • 1 package Superior Walleye
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper cut into strips
  • 1/2 cup sweet Vidalia onion cut into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning
  • 2 deli style sub buns
  • 4 slices swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoon mayo
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
Instructions
  1. Remove fish from the package, pat dry, and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large frypan add 3 Tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Coat fish in flour and shake off excess.
  4. Add fish to heated pan carefully letting it fall away from you.
  5. Reduce heat to medium and cook 4-5 minutes per side or until nicely browned and fish starts to flake apart.
  6. Once fish is flipped add the onions and peppers to cook in the pan and season them with the cajun seasoning.
  7. As fish finishes cooking, top with the onions and peppers and cheese to melt.
  8. Remove from the pan and serve on sub bun topped with condiments.
